The Importance of Inner Guidance in a Digital Age

Another year flew by, and we now face a brand new era. Depending on which numerologist you lean towards, 2026 is either a 10 year or a 1 year. Either way, I believe we are being asked to look into our future with new lenses.

What is possible for you? Now, think bigger! Dream and start to create that dream.

“God cannot help steer a car that’s put in park” - someone super wise said this before me, but I do not remember who to credit… Bummer.

Anyway, last year, you may have found momentum nonexistent. More seemed to end than start - jobs, creative ventures, and human life or a way of life ended, giving birth to a new era where growth and adventure await. Does anyone else hear the “Adventure is out there!” line from the movie “Up” in their heads about now? Just me? Ok…

To paraphrase Kate Forster, the writer and astrology buff, 2025 was not a year to thrive - it was a year to survive. And now, we find ourselves with a bit more fire and wind at our backs - how strong are your sails and how in touch with your guidance system are you?

I have been saying this for a spell now to my clients - one of the greatest gifts you give yourself is developing a relationship with your true, authentic self. Get to know yourself like she is your best friend in the whole wide world! Know her language, her hopes, her dreams, her pain, her wisdom, her goals, her wiring, her dysfunction, and her strength. Love all these aspects of you as if you were loving your best friend or your child. What is your truth?

I say this because we get lost playing the game of life. We lose touch with ourselves and put so much focus on our outside world. We play roles like wife, mother, father, employee, boss. We listen to podcasts and scroll through social media where we give attention to people we will never meet (and in most cases, we wouldn’t want to meet) all to have them say - “Do this, not that!” “If you’re doing this, you’re doing it wrong!” “I’m amazing because I do this [insert some bullsh*t fad story]!” Nowadays, we not only have to sort out the real people being fake, but we have to sort out fake people from real people given AI’s arrival on the scene.

Last year, a new connection I made described how she gave a significant amount of money to people claiming to be victims of homelessness and sex trafficking. The images and stories looked so real, but as it turned out, it was a scam. A friend forwarded me a reel where a Buddhist monk described what ancient prescriptions he had for modern problems. This AI monk’s advice sure sounded a lot like modern medicine to me!

There is so much to consume outside ourselves these days. There is good advice and there is some really bad or, at least, irrelevant advice out there. How do we discern between the two?

The only way to know that is to KNOW THYSELF! (I sure hope that sounded like the thunderous, cinematic voice of God in your head when you read those two words!

One of my favorite aspects of my jobby-job is helping people align to their truth and develop a relationship with their highest self. I always walk away from those sessions deeply in love with my job when I see the light bulb connect and brighten as if it’s been waiting to just be screwed in this whole time. All too often, we sail blindly in the dark, so no, our ship’s sails are not fully raised, our compass is broken, and the captain is drunk and asleep at the helm! Meanwhile, we are allowing everyone without experience sailing our particular brand of ship to tell us what to do and how to do it. We scroll through TikTok, watch hundreds of YouTube videos, and start heading in the wrong direction.

I am always amazed at the animals around our place. I will silently set a treat out for one of my dogs, and before I know it, my other dog will have woken from her slumber and found her way into the kitchen for her treat. How did she know I gave the other dog a treat? Animals know when a storm is building before it is detected by radar, know what plant is safe to eat, and know when their best friend is driving home from work well before anyone can see their car… Animals are so in touch with their internal guidance system, their internal light, their highest self that they just know. They do not need tiktok to tell them what, when, and how to live their life.

When you have connected with your internal wisdom, truth, and power, you will know and trust when danger approaches, when to act, and when to rest. You will not need to search for the meaning of life or your purpose outside of yourself - you will simply know with every ounce of your being. We all have the intuitive nature that the rest of nature seems to readily employ minute to minute, but our thinking mind has learned to dominate the conversation. The core of our being is calling for a vote.

If you need any help getting in touch with this aspect of you - guess what?!? You’ve come to the right place! The wellness sessions through In Fine Feather are centered around YOU! We dig deep, hold space, and hold you accountable for growth, which ultimately leads to health freedom, an expanded life experience, and a balance of the mind-body and soul! Use your discernment on whether this is a good fit for you, especially if you feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure which voice to trust.

When we learn to trust our inner guidance system, we move through time and change with far more grace and clarity. In the next post, I’ll shift from the inner landscape to the energetic one and share what January 2026 may bring from a mind–body–soul perspective, including the themes, physical signals, and invitations this month carries. Consider this your invitation to listen closely—not just to the energy around you, but to the wisdom already within you.
