The Body Knows First: January 2026 Energy Forecast

We are coming off of the 2025 shake-down with more changes yet to come. If you resisted the change that absolutely needed to happen last year only to drag it kicking and screaming into 2026, this should be a super fun year for you!! 

I sure hope you picked up on my thick sarcasm. 

Benjamin Franklin famously said, “In this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” I believe the notorious BF could have simply stated that only change itself is certain. How well do you embrace change? 

Many of us have heard about someone needing to leave a job years before they finally lose it. They hung on because they were afraid of change, afraid of making a mistake, being uncomfortable, leaving certainty, and when fate finally steps in, we call those spiritual 2x4’s - the slap across the face that knocks you down to your knees, only to build you back better and stronger. All these seemingly earth shattering moments, retrospectively, become pivotal markers that launched us towards blessings beyond belief. 

My father-in-law worked at a grain elevator in the Midwest, and one day, an electrical glitch occurred while he was working on a piece of equipment several feet up in the air. Before he knew it, his arm was sucked between steel rollers that were about a half an inch apart. As a young father, he found himself without a dominant arm after 75% of it was crushed and subsequently amputated. That literal crushing blow led him towards a different career selling crop insurance, which forever changed his financial security, relationships, and confidence. He shined in a way he never would have on his previous path.

This may not have been a spiritual 2x4, but it certainly was a divine redirection stocked full of lessons and opportunities to evolve!

The great thing about the body is that it gives us more subtle hints at healing and evolving, which to me is the best part of change! January energy seems to highlight areas within our hearts and personal power centers (solar plexus) to examine - and change. When you start to become more in tune with how the universal energies work with and talk to you, you begin working towards releasing, healing, and evolving before it takes a 2x4. Therefore, I publish the energy forecasts for you to learn about collective energy, how your energy responds to it, and bring awareness and language to areas where healing and growth lies. 

Let’s face it - how many of us would change if we were always comfortable?

For you empathic, highly sensitive little koala bears out there - use the forecast as data. When you start to experience physical symptoms in this area, you may be picking up on the collective energy or those around you. Of course, you may also have healing work to do in these areas, but for empaths, before you own the energy, decipher if it is yours or not yours. 

January has some lingering throat chakra energy from December, but primarily, I felt that the heart chakra and solar plexus were going to steal the show. When I tuned in, I felt my lungs and the lung meridian that traverses the front shoulders become bogged down with energy, which rolled down into the solar plexus, our mid-to-upper abdomen. I also felt a sense of cold energy - like slow moving energy throughout my body.

The heart chakra is the seat of our soul. The emotions of this center vary along the spectrum of love, compassion, and connection, so grief, jealousy, unforgiveness, loneliness, detachment, etc. will clog up this energy center. Our solar plexus, the seat of our intuition and personal power, houses nearly all the major detox and digestive organs - turning food into fuel, purifying blood, and removing toxins and waste. It’s kind of a badass but often out of balance. We dim our light, give our power away, or in the case of a narcissist, overuse this energy center while cutting off our higher self.

Between the two energy centers, trust of self and knowing lies, and lack of trust, for self and others, and lack of faith will block the flow of these energy centers, organs, and other physical aspects within these regions. 

If you start to notice dysfunction or discomfort in these areas, congratulations first and foremost for the mind-body awareness, and secondly, get a shovel and start digging, my friend! However, before you start to head down the victim and fear path, slow your roll! This energy and subsequent body-talk occurs for you and not to you! The process of healing the physical vessel is often disguised as pain and dysfunction. The letter sent from your soul notifying you of a need to change, investigate, and/or release often looks like dis-ease. If the term “change” sparks fear within you, consider the word “alchemize” as the alternative. We can alchemize trauma into wisdom, anger into forgiveness, grief into gratitude, and so on. The enhanced energy within the heart and solar plexus this month gives us the opportunity to alchemize some of the old, denser emotions into lighter, healthier vibrations. 

With all that in mind, here are some tools, tips, and tricks to support your journey this month:

SUPPORT THE BODY 

  1. Detox-supportive foods such as leafy greens, celery, lemon water, cruciferous vegetables, bone broth, oats, black beans, and lentils, and foods with healthy fats such as avocados and walnuts. 

  1. Foods that nourish the blood and heart such as beets, bitter foods, berries, sweet potatoes

  2. Warming spices - turmeric, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, black pepper

  3. Bring in more joy - look around you and find reasons to be grateful. 

  4. Meditate with rose quartz for the heart chakra and pyrite or another yellow/gold crystal or stone for the solar plexus.

  5. Laugh! Laugh as if your health depended on it!

  6. Exercise! Move that body! Get the heart rate up and the lungs working. Visualize stuck energy moving and out of your breath. Set the intention to release all stuck energy and energy that no longer serves your greatest good. 

  7. Journal and record your dreams.

  8. Therapy or life coach session(s) - now may be a great time to unearth areas that need worked through in a safe space.

  9. Somatic work with intention

JOURNAL PROMPTS

  1. Gratitude list - start each day off by journaling about 3 things you’re grateful for.

  1. What advice would your 80 year old self give you today? 

  2. List five goals for 2026. After you’ve made that list, in detail, describe how each one of those goals feel to you. For example, if you listed “pay down debt” and your forehead feels pressure and shoulders feel heavy, write that down! Then, journal about why you feel this way in your body. By doing this, you accomplish two things - one being mind-body awareness, and second, you start to become aware of blocks you may have in your path to that goal.  

There you have it - January in a nutshell. There may be some bombshells dropped in the media, but please step outside and see the world as it is directly in front of you - trees, birds, your loved ones. January invites us to meet change through the heart, not resistance.
